THANK YOU — You made history today
Today is a special day.
Minutes ago, Governor Jay Inslee signed HB 1840 into law, a bill that may not have passed at all if you hadn’t taken the time to contact your legislators.
It will save lives by ensuring that people currently under restraining orders or subject to similar protective orders will have to temporarily turn in their firearms if the court feels they’re a threat.
It’s a very simple — but very powerful — reform that will save lives while preserving the rights of gun owners. This is exactly the kind of commonsense reform that we wanted to make a reality when we created the Washington Alliance for Gun Responsibility.
Thanks again for joining us in pressing the legislature to pass this critical bill — and joining us in thanking Governor Inslee for signing it into law. Your work made history today.
