Our First Presidential Endorsement
Today marks 21 years since the shooting at Columbine High School woke the country up to the gun violence epidemic. More than two decades later, we’ve seen local and state progress, but at the federal level far too little has changed.
The need for bold leadership on gun violence prevention has never been more urgent. That’s why we are proud to endorse Vice President Joe Biden in our first-ever presidential endorsement.
The Trump Administration represents a graver threat to our public safety than any before it. Trump is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the gun lobby gets a good return on their $30 million investment into his campaign, from continuously blocking lifesaving legislation to deeming the gun industry essential during a global pandemic to inciting violence and encouraging domestic rebellion.
As we face the many challenges of recovering from COVID-19—including the increased risk of gun violence—we need a president who will put the health and safety of Americans first and fight to end the gun violence epidemic. We know that Joe Biden will be that president. He has a proven track record not only of passing gun responsibility laws but also of taking on the gun lobby and winning.
So as we remember the victims and survivors of Columbine, we commit to fighting in their honor to elect leaders like Biden who will work alongside us for a future free from gun violence. The Victory Fund will be announcing more endorsements soon. Stay tuned!
