Alliance for Gun Responsibility Responds to Aurora Shooting
SEATTLE, WA – The Alliance for Gun Responsibility issued the following statement in response to reports that six people, including the gunman, were killed and five law enforcement officers were injured in a shooting at an industrial complex in Aurora, Illinois.
“Yesterday, we recognized the one year anniversary of the Parkland shooting, which inspired new outrage and demands for action to end the epidemic of gun violence in our country,” said Renee Hopkins, CEO of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility. “Today, more innocent lives were taken in another senseless act of gun violence, sending us a devastating reminder of how much work we still have left to do. In a country where more than 100 people lose their lives each day to gun violence, where no office or school or place of worship is spared, something must change. Our hearts go out to the victims and to all the brave law enforcement officers who risked their lives to stop the carnage. And we resolve, once again, to do everything we can to put an end to this crisis.”
