This guy thinks handshakes are better than background checks

If we’re going to reduce gun violence in Washington, we need to make sure anyone buying a gun in Washington State passes the same background check, no matter where they buy the gun and no matter whom they buy it from.

But if you show up to the Tacoma Dome gun show this weekend, you can buy a gun from private sellers by passing a much weaker test: a handshake.

No, seriously.

Here’s what the guy running the show told a reporter about the show this weekend: “Right now, it’s cash goes one way, the firearm goes the other way and there’s a handshake in between.”

Handshakes alone won’t keep us safe. More than 2,500 Washingtonians have already spoken out to urge the gun show organizers to require background checks on ALL purchases, just like their shows in Oregon do, but we haven’t heard from you, yet.

Please take a moment to add your name to the thousands who are calling on Wes Knodel Gun Shows to require background checks on ALL gun purchases at the Tacoma show this weekend.

Thanks for stepping up!
