Certified.
Wednesday was a huge day in the fight for safer communities — and we owe it all to you.
That was the day that Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman officially certified I-594. Now we can present our initiative to implement commonsense background checks to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals to the legislature in Olympia.
And we couldn’t have done it without your support — thank you.
With nearly 80 percent of Washington voters supporting background checks, you’d think it would sail through the legislature and get passed into law without much opposition, but you’d be wrong.
While we enjoy incredible popular support in Washington, the NRA leadership and their gun lobby allies are pulling out all the stops to convince legislators that we don’t really have the support of Washington citizens.
They’re counting on us to be asleep at the wheel.
In their secret meetings in Olympia, they’re assuring legislators that we’re not committed to this fight.
I know that’s not true. And you know it — but they don’t.
Click here, and help me show them how much we care about making Washington state safer.
We only have a few weeks of this legislative session to pass I-594, and it’s going to be a uphill battle.
Thank you for your past support — and thanks again for stepping up again today.
More soon,
