SEATTLE, WA – The Alliance for Gun Responsibility Victory Fund congratulates the slate of endorsed candidates who secured victories in Tuesday’s election. Washington voters have once again made it clear that they want leaders who will prioritize safety, accountability, and action to prevent gun violence.
“With growing uncertainty on the federal level, it’s reassuring to know that Washingtonians are continuing to show up for their communities to elect gun violence prevention champions up and down the ballot,” said Renée Hopkins, CEO of the Alliance for Gun Responsibility “Where firearm violence continues to be the leading cause of death for children and teens, we do not have the luxury of taking focus off of this ever persistent public health crisis.”
The Alliance for Gun Responsibility Victory Fund endorses candidates at every level of government because prevention requires smart coordination and commitment from city halls to the state capitol. Local officials play a critical role in implementing and enforcing existing firearm laws, supporting community-based violence intervention programs, and promoting safe storage. By electing champions up and down the ballot, Washingtonians ensure steady progress towards ending this crisis.
We are happy to welcome new faces to the movement, as well as uplift continued leaders in our community. Among the Alliance’s endorsed winners include:
- Erika Evans, Seattle City Attorney
- Dionne Foster, Seattle City Council
- Alexis Mercedes Rinck, Seattle City Council
