Position Title: Intern
Reports to: Field Organizer
Job Summary: The Electoral Organizing Internship takes place during Washington’s 2025 Election Season (June 2nd through August 15th). It has never been more important to show up for gun violence prevention candidates running for state and local seats.
Interns will have the opportunity to acquire practical skills by collaborating with volunteers, advocates, and community supporters in electing gun safety advocates who will actively devise legislative approaches to curb gun violence in Washington. The ideal candidates for this program possess strong critical thinking skills and excel in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a vested interest in preventing gun violence and be eager to learn about the electoral process and political organizing strategies
Interns commit to 10-12 hours each week during their experience, and will be compensated at $21 an hour. If approved by your institution, this internship can count as course credit! While we are accommodating of work or school schedules, interns are asked to be in-person at least once a week during their internship. The schedule is adaptable and subject to change depending on organizing or community events. Evening and weekend shifts may also be necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Activate members, partnering organizations, and grassroots network to turnout votes
- Participate in and execute statewide direct voter contact efforts for endorsed candidates
- Recruit and manage volunteers
- Dedicate at least 5 hours per week contacting volunteers for event recruitment
- Assist with get out the vote events in collaboration with Field staff
- Update volunteer lists and databases
- Operate phone banks and outreach events, outside of typical business hours
- Participate in community events and public education opportunities
- Assist Alliance staff in various tasks relating to communications, operations, etc. as needed
