2019 General Election Endorsements


GIRMAY ZAHILAY – Girmay Zahilay has a long history of community-driven work and a deep connections to King County. On the King County Council, Girmay would be a strong voice for community-focused gun violence prevention and a leader fighting for stronger firearms laws in our county and state.
MEGAN DUNN – Megan Dunn understands how gun violence impacts Snohomish County and our region, and will be a strong force for gun violence prevention.
SHERIFF TY TRENARY – Sheriff Ty Trenary is emphasizing gun violence prevention through a continued commitment to the safety of our children and schools. He also supports critical investments and resource sharing that will keep our communities safe and make implementation and enforcement of existing gun laws possible.

 


APRIL BARKER – April Barker is a thoughtful leader with the experience to take action to prevent gun violence as Mayor of Bellingham.
MARCIE MAXWELL – Marcie Maxwell is a proven champion for gun violence prevention. Her extensive government experience and regional approach to reducing preventable gun violence will serve Renton and all of King County well.

JAMES BIBLE – James Bible will stand up to the gun lobby and fight for laws that save lives and keep Bellevue safe.
BETH HARTSOCH – Beth Hartosch will be a strong voice for preventing gun violence on the Bellingham City Council.
KEVIN SCHILLING – Kevin Schilling is experienced in bringing communities together. We think Kevin will take this approach to the Burien council and include community stakeholders in gun violence prevention efforts.

 


DIANE BUCKSHNIS – Diane Buckshnis has a track-record of commitment to gun violence prevention, helping pass historic local laws to protect Edmonds and save lives.
LIZ VOGELI – Liz Vogeli is committed to a community-based approach to reducing gun violence. She will work at the local and national level for laws and resources that protect our cities from preventable gun violence.
BRENDA STONECIPHER – Brenda Stonecipher is an effective leader for Everett. She will continue to advance legislation that supports giving cities the tools to prevent gun violence.

 


JOSEPH ERIKSON – Joseph Erikson is a true advocate for our kids. He is the only candidate in this race who will work to make sure our communities and schools are free from preventable gun violence.
BRYAN YAMBE – Bryan Yambe is a capable leader who will fight to prevent gun violence and keep Fife safe
LINDA FARMER – Linda Farmer is a career civil servant who has a depth of experience in systems work. Linda is the only candidate who is fighting for a safer Lakewood.

 


CRAIG REYNOLDS – Craig Reynolds is a passionate advocate for preventing gun violence. He is a capable and thoughtful leader who will help Mercer Island and surrounding communities continue our progress on preventing gun violence.
PATRICK ALLCORN – Patrick Allcorn is a proven champion for gun violence prevention. Mercer Island deserves leaders like Allcorn who put protecting our kids and communities first.
DEBBIE BERTLIN – Debbie Bertlin has proven herself an effective leader and advocate for safer schools and communities through reducing preventable gun violence.

 


DAVE ROSENBAUM – Dave Rosenbaum’s offers a thoughtful and steady approach to reducing preventable gun violence in our communities. Dave’s impressive background and experience in the public sector gives us the confidence to endorse him for Mercer Island City Council.
VARISHA KHAN – Varisha Khan is a committed advocate for a growing and diverse Redmond. Varisha is the right choice for Redmond and will help build a safer community.

 


DAMIANA MERRYWEATHER – Damiana Merryweather understands balancing rights with responsibility and will be an advocate for commonsense solutions to reduce gun
MOHAMED ALI EGAL – Mohamed Ali Egal has had an impressive career in community building. Mohammed is the right choice for SeaTac when it comes to building safer communities where everyone can thrive.

 


ALEX PEDERSEN & SHAUN SCOTT – Alex Pedersen and Shaun Scott are both gun violence prevention champions. While they look at the issue in different ways, both understand that gun violence is a public health crisis and know that the Seattle City Council can and must do more to keep Seattle safe. Shaun and Alex are both prepared to lead the way and work to save lives in Seattle.

 


NATHE LAWVER – Nathe Lawver knows that gun violence is a preventable public health crisis in Tacoma and will be a champion in the Tacoma City Council.

 


TANIESHA LYONS – Taniesha Lyons is an impressive and passionate leader who will represent our students’ voices. We know Taniesha will fight for students’ safety at school.
APRIL BERG – April Berg is an experienced and dynamic leader who has the experience we need to advance commonsense gun violence prevention legislation that keeps our schools safe.
CHANDRA HAMPSON – Chandra Hampson knows that gun violence has major impacts on our children and wants to fight to make sure that gun violence is part of the wellness curriculum in Seattle Public Schools. Chandra’s desire to support our students and fight for their interests and safety show that she is ready to lead the way on gun violence prevention on the Seattle School Board.

 


NIKKI LOCKWOOD – Nikki Lockwood is a strong advocate for our kids. She will take common-sense steps to protect students in school.
JENNY SLAGLE – Jenny Slagle is a strong leader in the Spokane community and is ready to fight to ensure students get the support and resources they need to prevent gun violence in our schools.
ERIN GEORGEN – Erin Georgen is eager to fight for the opportunity for students to be free from violence in schools and her position against arming student resource officers has earned her our support.

TAMMY MORALES – Tammy Morales is a thoughtful and committed leader, with a track record of community engagement and working to prevent violence in South Seattle. She understands the complex, multifaceted causes of gun violence in our communities, and is positioned to champion gun violence prevention on the Seattle City Council.
DAN STRAUSS – While other candidates running for office in the 6th district have a track-record of supporting common-sense gun laws, Dan Strauss has a history of leadership working to prevent gun violence. .. Dan’s work within Olympia, in City Hall, and with the Alliance for Gun Responsibility has proven that he will make sure gun violence prevention is a priority for the Seattle City Council.
