Alliance for Gun Responsibility Responds to NRA and SAF Lawsuit Against Initiative 1639

SEATTLE, WA – The Alliance for Gun Responsibility issued the following statement in response to the National Rifle Association and Second Amendment Foundation’s lawsuit against Initiative 1639:

“It is no surprise that the NRA and the gun lobby would bring a lawsuit in an attempt to stop Initiative 1639 from coming into effect. They know they cannot defeat popular gun violence prevention measures on the ballot, so they try to use the courts. That has been their strategy to undermine the will of the people, both here in Washington and nationally,” said Alliance for Gun Responsibility CEO Renee Hopkins. This is now the fourth lawsuit they have brought against the initiative; they failed to convince the courts in their previous attempts to stop it just like they failed to convince voters this year. As always, we are determined to defend Initiative 1639 against their challenges.”
