Early Endorsements Are In!

The Alliance for Gun Responsibility Victory Fund has endorsed 60 candidates for Washington’s 2021 primary election. Find out which gun responsibility candidates are running to represent you in our new interactive voter guide! You can search by name, position, or district.

The Victory Fund’s goal is to elect local leaders at every level of government who are committed to taking a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to gun violence prevention. More than 90 local candidates have reached out to us seeking our endorsement so far this year, and we are so excited about the group of candidates included in these early endorsements.

The past year and a half have shown that, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Washington state is not immune to the horrors of gun violence. The surging rate of shootings in communities across the state demonstrates the urgent need for gun violence prevention champions to be elected into office at every level of government. The legislature has made significant progress in recent years, but we need local elected leaders in office who are dedicated to ensuring new gun safety laws are effectively and adequately implemented.

The Victory Fund has not yet endorsed a candidate for Seattle Mayor or for the two open positions on Seattle City Council. On Jun 29th, we hosted a Seattle Mayoral Candidate Forum in partnership with Grandmothers Against Gun Violence and media sponsor South Seattle Emerald to learn more about how leading candidates would address gun violence if elected. You can watch a recording of that forum here. We will host another forum for candidates seeking the citywide position 9 on Seattle City Council on July 13th at 12pm PT. You can RSVP for that here
