How did YOUR legislator score?

2015 Legislative Scorecard

The Alliance for Gun Responsibility has been hard at work in Olympia advocating for responsible legislation — and for protecting the will of the people. As a service to voters, we have launched the first Gun Responsibility Scorecard that shows how YOUR legislators voted on gun responsibility policies.

Our 2015 Gun Responsibility Scorecard was the first-ever scorecard in Washington State that allows voters to hold legislators accountable for their positions on policies that keep guns out of dangerous hands. Now that the 2016 Legislative Session has come to an end, we will be releasing our 2016 Gun Responsibility Scorecard in the coming weeks.

How Did We Create The 2015 Scorecard?

Legislative leadership is more than just taking votes, which is why our 2015 Legislator Scores include evaluations on priority gun responsibility legislation, bill sponsorship, and legislative and community advocacy. Also included are votes and sponsorship on bills to increase community safety and responsibility, including sponsoring or voting for bills which increase safety and against bills which move our state in the wrong direction.

VOTES SCORED INCLUDE:
• SB 5381: Sheena Henderson’s Law (support)
• SB 5269: Joel’s Law (support)
• HB 1448: Response to Suicide Threats (support)
• HB 1857: Extreme Risk Protection Orders (support)
• SBs 5579, 5615, 5539: Reopening our state’s background check loophole by creating exemptions to Initiative 594 (oppose)

Scores also reflect Legislative Advocacy – points (positive and negative) reflecting the degree to which legislators advocated for gun responsibility in committee, amongst colleagues, on the floor, and in Caucus – as well as Community Advocacy – scores reflecting how deeply legislators engaged with constituents, community groups and Alliance for Gun Responsibility partners to work towards greater gun responsibility.
