Thank You

We have good news to share.

Thanks to your support, last week the Washington state Senate passed House Bill 1612. This bill requires offenders convicted of firearms-related felonies to register and be added to a database of firearms felons maintained by the Washington State Patrol.

It would not have passed without pressure from supporters like you who urged Sen. Rodney Tom to move forward with this important legislation. Thank you.

Unfortunately, House Bill 1840 did not move forward in the Senate. HB 1840 would have protected victims of domestic violence, requiring a person found to be a credible threat to their spouse or partner to surrender their weapons.

Even bipartisan support for HB 1840 was not enough to allow it to move past obstructionist legislators in the Senate. That’s why we need a counterbalance to the gun industry’s stranglehold on Olympia.

We will no longer stand for this. Will you send a message to Olympia by contributing $10, $25 or $50 to help support sensible legislation to prevent gun violence?

For too long the gun lobby has held sway in Olympia, urging legislators to back business interests over the safety of our communities. This can stand no longer.

Please show your support for commonsense solutions to preventing gun violence in our state with a contribution of $10, $25 or $50.

Together, we can make our communities safer.

In solidarity,
Zach
